WINDSOR, Colo. — Police say the deadly shooting of a man on his bicycle near Windsor May 18 is connected to another shooting in Fort Collins. In that incident, two shots were fired at a woman entering I-25 from Harmony Road. Cori Romero was shot in the neck on April 22 and continues to recover from that injury.
Police want people to be aware that someone out there is shooting people at random, after they found evidence that link the two shootings together.
No suspect has been identified yet and law enforcement wants help finding the shooter.
John Jacoby, 48, was riding his bike when he was shot and killed on Weld County Road 15 near Weld County Road 72. A passing motorist found him on the ground. He had been shot twice.
Jacoby was a part-time park caretaker with the Town of Windsor.
Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers has been asked to help the Windsor Police Department find a suspect in Jacoby’s shooting. The FBI is also helping with the investigation.
Anyone with information can remain anonymous by contacting the Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-444-3776. There have also been incidents of broken windows on vehicles in northern Colorado. Police said Friday none of those cases have been connected to the shootings of Jacoby and Romero.
