Parker cops donate blood for injured Denver officer

Parker Police officers donate blood in honor of Officer Lopez

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — Police officers from agencies in the metro area are stepping up to do what they can to help Denver police Officer Tony Lopez Jr.

For some, that meant lending an arm.  The sister of Lopez said blood donations saved her brother’s life and asked the public to donate.

Lopez was on a routine traffic stop in northwest Denver on Tuesday when a suspect opened fire. Lopez was shot five times and taken to Denver Health Medical Center with critical injuries.

Eight Parker police officers donated blood in his honor at Bonfils Blood Center in Highlands Ranch on Friday.

Other can help, too. Just mention the Officer Lopez honorary blood drive at any of Bonfils’ six community donor centers.
