AURORA, Colo. — One person suffered a gunshot wound at the Town Center at Aurora on Saturday night, according to the Aurora Police Department.
Police received 911 calls in regards to the shooting and responded to the mall at 7:09 p.m.
Police spokesperson Crystal McCoy said it’s unclear whether the shooting happened inside or outside of the mall at 14200 E. Alameda Ave.
The investigation lead to police finding a juvenile male with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. He is not cooperating with police, McCoy said.
The juvenile was released from the hospital and arrested on active warrants.
McCoy said the mall is not closing in response to the incident.
FOX31 obtained a statement from the General Manager at Town Center Aurora, Don Massey, in regards to safety and the mall:
“The safety of our guests, retailers and employees is our top priority. To keep people safe, we are working directly with the Aurora Police Department as they actively investigate this incident. We also have our own security force on foot and in vehicles, plus camera surveillance and modern security procedures. In response to this incident, we have increased our security presence including additional exterior patrols and an increased security presence within the parking lot. Guests, retailers and employees can call our security team 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 303-344-4192 to request a security team member to meet them within the property, or for an escort to their vehicle.
