SHERIDAN, Colo. — Dive teams spent another day in the South Platte River looking for the body of a Marine feared drowned after a tubing trip Saturday.

Sheridan police requested the Army Corps of Engineers lower the water level to help aid in the search for Joe Goodwin’s body.

Swift-water teams from Denver and Arapahoe counties aided in the search Tuesday morning. Chief Mark Campbell said there was a limited window to do the search before the Army Corps would open the gates at Chatfield Reservoir.

The recovery was called off about 1 p.m. after teams were unable to locate any signs of Goodwin. Nearly 50 volunteers helped with the search and recovery effort.

Patrol officers will check the backs of the South Platte River several times a day, but any water search is being called off indefinitely.
