GRAHAM, Wash. —  A family in Washington state is hoping that their son gets his wish for his ninth birthday this year.

Their son, Bubby, contracted a virus at birth, Cytomegalovirus or CMV, KCPQ reported.

This virus is usually harmless but in some rare cases, like Bubby’s, it will be fatal.

There is a number of complications that his son has, “autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, deafness, scoliosis,” said Bubby’s father, Thomas Everson.

KCPQ said, he uses a cochlear implant to hear and wears casts on both feet to help with scoliosis, when he is not in his wheelchair.

Bubby turns 9 years old on Feb. 11 and his parents hope they can give him his only wish, KCPQ reported.

Bubby’s favorite things: mail and stickers!

“If there are stickers in it he loves,” said Thomas Everson. “He’ll play with the stickers.  He’ll put stickers all over the place.”

“He’s happy, and loving and he’s caring and he’s a fighter,” said Brandi Everson, Bubby’s mom.  “I don’t think he’d be here if he wasn’t a fighter.”

Bubby’s parents said they are blessed and they just want their son to have a truly special birthday this year, KCPQ said.

They are asking everyone who can to send their son some mail, maybe even with some stickers.

They set up a P.O. Box for mail and a GoFund Me page to raise money for a sensory room, according to KCPQ.
