ALPHARETTA, Ga. — A Georgia father and his girlfriend are facing charges after police say they intentionally left his six-year old son alone in a car for nearly 40-minutes.

Detectives found surveillance video they say supports the charges.

Surveillance video shows a woman walking a little boy out of an Alpharetta restaurant a few weeks ago. Police said Jacqueline Tabb left the kid in his father’s car and returned to the restaurant without him.

“We had a 6-year-old that’s by himself in a vehicle while custodial dad for this visitation period is inside the restaurant having dinner with his girlfriend,” said George Gordon a Georgia Police Officer.

Alpharetta police said the 6-year-old called his mother in Cobb County to tell her the couple left him in the car for more than a half hour. The boy’s mother called 911.

“Cobb County contacted and also spoke to the 6-year-old boy. The 6-year-old boy was able to give us succinct details about the street name and basically where he is located,” Officer Gordon said.

Police have charged Tabb and the boy’s father Aric Keck with reckless conduct after they say the couple intentionally left him there.

“Can’t fathom why somebody would leave a 6-year-old in a vehicle while they’re at dinner,” Gordon stated, “the car was off.”

In Alpharetta, many people had a strong reaction to the allegations.

Keck’s attorney has not released a comment on this incident.
