BOSTON — A cardiac surgeon suffered life-threatening injuries following a shooting at a Boston hospital.
It happened inside Brigham and Women’s Hospital Tuesday morning at its Cardiovascular Center.
The doctor sustained two gun shot wounds, Boston police said.
The suspect committed suicide after being apprehended and was found in an examination room, according to police.
The Cardiovascular Center was locked down and nearby roads were temporarily closed.
“We’re looking at a possible motive. We know he came into the hospital on the second floor asking for this particular doctor. Why and for whatever reason, that’s something we’re looking into. It wasn’t clearly a person coming in here acting out. There was a particular reason he targeted this doctor,” said William B. Evans Boston Police Commissioner.
