GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — In mid-January of this year, two men were reunited after finding a hidden letter claiming that they were father and son.
After being absent in his son’s life, for 61 years, Tory Trapani at 81 years old, felt like a new father.
The heart-warming reunion caught attention around the world, but the men were planning on having a paternity test just to confirm the relation, WXMI previously reported.

Monday WXMI reported the results of that paternity test: negative.
“It kind of shocked me a little bit,” said Samuel Childress . “Instead of being 99 percent, it was zero and it kind of set me back. I mean, it’s just like a shock to me.”
Childress said their newly formed father-son bond won’t be broken by a test, WXMI reported.
“That piece of paper that you know my mom sent, wrote to him that note and stuff, there’s no denying it. That part there and I just know there is a connection and he feels the same way,” said Childress.
He said he will not attempt to find his paternal father because as far as he is concerned Trapani will be the only man he calls ‘dad,’ according to WXMI.
Trapani’s sister, Arlene, said that he will also continue calling Childress his son, WXMI said.
