DENVER — The Powerball jackpot increased to $500 million on Wednesday morning, which would make it the fifth-largest prize in U.S. history.

The largest jackpot was in May 2013, when a Florida woman won $590.5 million, according to Colorado Lottery representative Kelly Tabor.

This half-billion dollar jackpot has got many past players getting back in the game, Tabor said.

Powerball drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 8:59 p.m.

The multistate game has a starting jackpot of $40 million and grows from there if no one gets all five numbers and the Powerball.
