CHELSEA, Mass. — Firefighters said a medical emergency caused a tractor-trailer to crash into a Dunkin’ Donuts on Monday .
They believe the driver had some kind of medical issue behind the wheel, before losing control of the truck.
The semi then struck a parked car and rammed into the store near Boston.
Firefighters said the driver wasn’t even in the vehicle when they got there.
“The driver was unconscious on the ground next to the truck when we pulled up,” John Quatieri, Chelsea deputy fire chief said.
The driver regained consciousness on his way to the hospital.
The truck spilled about 25-gallons of fuel that crews had to clean up.
The crash left some structural damage in the store.
The Dunkin’ Donuts will be closed until inspectors confirm it’s safe to reopen.
