MONUMENT, Colo. — What started as a welfare check in Monument ended with the arrests of four people on charges related to drug possession, guns and stolen vehicles, police said Tuesday.
A news release from the Monument Police Department said officers first responded to 339 Fourth St. on Aug. 31. Subsequent investigations during the next 13 days led to a search of the home on Saturday and ultimately the arrests.
“During the investigation over 6 ounces of methamphetamine was seized which has an approximate street value of $13,000. Other substances seized included psilocybin, heroin, cocaine, items believed to be the product of butane hash oil extraction, and controlled substances in pill form,” the statement said.
Additionally, officers recovered a stolen motorcycle, and another vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner.
Police arrested:
- David Reza, 28: Was found to be in possession of multiple controlled substances, paraphernalia, and stolen property. He is also a convicted felon and was found to be in possession of a handgun, a violation of state statute. Reza was charged with various narcotics and weapons violations including CRS 18-18-405 Unlawful distribution, manufacturing, dispensing, or sale (DF4), and CRS 18-12-108 Possession of weapons by previous offenders (F6).
- Austin Walpole, 26: Was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, a stolen motorcycle, and a handgun with the serial number scratched off. He was charged with CRS 18-18-403.5(2)(a) Unlawful possession of a controlled substance (DF4), CRS 18-4-409 Aggravated motor vehicle theft (F5), and 18-12-103 Possession of a defaced firearm (M1).
- Christopher Lacotti, 28: Was arrested on an outstanding warrant related to identity theft charges.
- Megan Graybeal, 22: Was arrested on two outstanding warrants. One for drug related offenses and the other for criminal impersonation.
