DENVER — Love is in the air at local florists in metro Denver.

“We are up 20 percent over last year,” said Rob Spikol. “Our busy day will be tomorrow as folks begin sending girlfriends and wives flowers to their jobs, but Saturday we will also be slammed. We love it!”

The sales numbers will be the best, we’re told, since the Great Recession.

While sales are always good during the Christmas and Mother’s Day seasons, Valentine’s Day is huge for the industry. Extra delivery folks have been hired just to get flowers to their destinations. But many folks are walking into the West Mississippi Avenue wholesaler—Lehrer’s Flowers.

Flower bouquet makers love this time of the year, as they are on the front line of spreading LOVE.
