DENVER — Nonprofit health insurer Colorado HealthOp is suing the state so it can continue selling policies next year, according to The Denver Post.
Regulators said companies need to be financially stable enough to pay patient claims.
They decided HealthOp didn’t have enough in reserves to meet the criteria, so the nonprofit would not be allowed to sell or renew policies in the insurance marketplace.
The organization is fighting that decision.
It serves about 80,000 customers who will be forced to find new health insurance.
