AURORA, Colo. — Amazon has begun hiring for 1,000 full-time positions at its new fulfillment center in Aurora on East 19th Avenue north of the Interstate 70/E-470 junction.
The 1 million-square-foot facility opens later this summer.
Amazon needs employees to pick, pack and ship larger-sized items such as sporting equipment, musical instruments and furniture.
According to the online application, the hourly pay rate for a full-time warehouse associate is $12.50 an hour, while a lead fulfillment associate makes $14.40 an hour.
Applicants have to be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
The company pays benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, performance-based bonuses, 401(k), and company stock options.
Amazon also says it offers full-time employees help paying for tuition for courses in high-demand fields even the skills are not relevant to jobs at the compnay.
Last month, Amazon announced it will build another facility in Thornton that will handle smaller items, and use robots to help pick and pack items.
The 2.4-million-square-foot center will create 1,500 full-time jobs, the electronic commerce and cloud-computing giant said.
Construction will begin later this month with the center expected to open in August 2018.
