DENVER — Omari Martin is in custody Friday night having faced charges for aggravated robbery and motor vehicle theft. Martin landed in a jail for an ordeal he put a 56-year-old woman named Cathy through.

“I was terrified,” Cathy said. “I shook so badly they almost called an ambulance.”

Cathy was walking to her car to take some clothes to Goodwill when she heard the man racing up behind her. Cathy said the man was armed and wore a bandana.

“He shoved his gun in my face,” Cathy said. “He told me to get on the ground and I just kept saying, ‘I’m sorry,’ ‘I’m sorry.'”

The man stole her car and Cathy stayed on the ground for more than 20 minutes.

“I was just waiting for him to pull the trigger.”

The next day, Aurora police spotted the vehicle and the driver fled and caused an accident. The driver got away but left a fingerprint behind. When Denver Police traced the print, they identified Martin as the suspect.
