LONGMONT, Colo. (KDVR) — Longmont police responded to a call of a possible shooting in the 1200 block of Hunter Court on Wednesday at approximately 4:15 a.m. Suspects fled the area after the shooting in separate vehicles.

Police found a 34-year-old man dead inside a stolen car approximately 90 minutes later. His name is being withheld pending notification of the family.

The car was found abandoned in front of a home on Valentine Lane. 

The driver of the stolen car has been identified.

On Wednesday night, police said a suspect had been identified and the suspect vehicle was located.

On Friday, the Longmont Police Department identified the suspect as Richard Lawrence Martinez. He was apprehended in New Mexico after a pursuit and brief foot chase.

“At this time, police are not seeking any additional suspects or involved vehicle,” LPD said in a statement.
