DENVER — In the same week a fund-raiser run/walk was established bearing her name, the first step toward justice for fallen Denver Police Office Celena Hollis has taken place.

Friday afternoon, the man accused of shooting and killing the seven-year veteran agreed to a plea deal.

Rollin Oliver agreed to plead guilty to 2nd-degree murder.  In exchange, the Denver District Attorney’s Office agreed to drop the more serious 1st-degree murder charge.

Investigators say Oliver, who was 21 at the time, fired shots into a crowd at a jazz concert in City Park on June 24. One of those hit Hollis in the head, killing her.

Oliver faces up to 26 years in prison when he is sentenced June 21. Sources tell FOX31 Denver the fight in the park was between rival gangs and Oliver is a member of the “Bloods.”

Sunday, the inaugural “The End of Watch 5K Run/Walk” was held in City Park.  Proceeds will go to a scholarship fund.

Hollis is survived by a daughter.
