Evacuations lifted for Woodland Park wildfire

WOODLAND PARK, Colo. (KDVR) — A mandatory evacuation notice was lifted for a small wildfire outside of Woodland Park.

Residents there were allowed to return home on Thursday evening.

“The sheriff came and knocked on my door,” said Martha, a resident, “and told us we had 10 minutes to leave!”

Strong winds added to the challenge. At one point, 10 agencies were part of the firefight.

By 8:30 p.m., the mandatory evacuation order was lifted. The fire was 25% contained Thursday night. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Nobody was hurt. No structures were damaged.

Teller County Sheriff’s Office tweeted that residents in the area north of Mills Ranch Road 1 mile and east of Sour Dough Road 1 Mile past Lovell Gulch Road were under mandatory evacuation orders as a fire.

TCSO said Triple B Ranch Road and the Red Rocks area were under a pre-evacuation notice of 3:30 p.m.
