COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (KDVR) — (Update at 10:30 a.m. July 13) — The Commerce City Police Department announced Wednesday morning that a woman who was originally reported as dead following a shooting is actually alive.

Police released the following statement:

“Due to the grave nature of the victim’s wounds and the expedited need for treatment, initial information indicated the victim had died. Tremendous effort by medical staff resulted in the victim’s stabilization. The victim’s injuries remain extremely critical, but she is still alive at this time,” CCPD said.

The victim’s identity has not been released.

The Commerce City Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a woman dead on Tuesday morning.

It happened around 1 a.m. near East 70th Avenue and Grape Street. When police arrived in the area, they found a woman with a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

No suspect information has been released.
