A wildfire burning near Idaho Springs prompted evacuation orders in the area.
According to Clear Creek Fire Authority, someone who lives off Mill Creek called at 6:18 a.m. about a fire.
Firefighters spotted flames and began to work on both a structure and possible wildland fire. Clear Creek Fire Authority said the structure, which was located in the 700 block of Miners Circle, was occupied and burned down. No injuries were reported.
Another structure in the 700 block of Miners Circle also caught on fire. It was unoccupied and completely destroyed, according to fire authorities.
UPDATES:
5:16 p.m.: Evacuation orders remain in place overnight and the fire is 50% contained. A public briefing is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, at the Idaho Springs Fire Station at 2000 Colorado Blvd.
2:25 p.m.: Winds have subsided and the fire has laid down, according to Clear Creek County Undersheriff Bruce Snelling. Thirty-five wildland firefighters are working the fire that is at 0% containment.
11:40 a.m.: Fire officials say they have evacuated 20 to 25 structures so far for the Miner’s Candle Fire, which has burnt 20 acres near Idaho Springs.
9:18 a.m.: Evacuations are being ordered for people in the Miners Candle, Lamartine Road, Sunny Skies Trail and Trail Creek Road areas. Authorities are going door-to-door to evacuate people and telling them to go to the Clear Creek District building at 320 Hwy. 103 in Idaho Springs.
The fire isn’t on a path where there are a lot of homes, according to the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office, but the wind needs to die down before firefighters can bring in air support.
Smoke and flames are visible to travelers on Interstate 70.

Clear Creek Fire Authority noted the fire is spreading due to high winds. The area was placed under a high wind warning in effect until 11 a.m. Gusts over 74 mph are possible.
