WELD COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — The Weld County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man and a woman who witnesses say shot a person in a road rage-motivated crime.

Deputies got the call and responded around 10:11 a.m. Friday in the area of U.S. 85 just north of where the highway intersects with Colorado 60 between Platteville and Gilcrest, according to the Weld County Sheriff’s Office.

A 16-year-old boy was taken to a local hospital with, what police said is a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The suspect’s truck is described as a 2007 – 2013 dark blue Toyota Tundra which was last seen traveling north or west on U.S. 85 near LaSalle. You can learn more about the suspects’ descriptions from the sheriff’s office news release.

The Problem Solvers dug into this story, and we noticed a lot of people on social media complaining about how dangerous Hwy 85 can be.

So we decided to take a drive and see for ourselves. We saw one traveling transgression take place often: speeding.

We caught up with someone who works near where this all ended. He didn’t want to show his face on camera. When we told him what happened, he said he’s seen road rage on this same stretch of Hwy 85 before.

“Maybe once or twice I’ve seen it, but I don’t pay attention,” he said. “I just go on my side and that’s it.”

He said he’s used to it, so when he sees it happening, he avoids it.

While deputies believe this is an isolated incident, the sheriff’s office is encouraging the public not to approach the suspects, because they are armed, and call 911 immediately.
