BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — The Boulder Police Department arrested a man near University Hill Elementary school on Tuesday morning. A shelter in place order was lifted at 12:42 p.m.

The arrest happened hours after a suspect wanted by police barricaded himself near the school, according to police.

The Boulder Police Department has not released what the man was wanted for, but did say he had previously made threats against the school.

Earlier in the morning, the Boulder Valley School District said University Hill Elementary students were moved to the BVSD Education Center due to police activity. They were reunited with their parents around 10 a.m.

Police said a reverse 911 call was sent to 65 homes around 9:30 a.m.

The incident started around 8 a.m. when BVSD said the school was originally placed on secure lockout.
