BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said it had a busy early Wednesday morning after goats got loose.

The herd of escapee goats rampaged through the Zircon Way neighborhood of Superior, and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was called in to help.

”We received the report approximately 2:15 early this morning about some suspicious activity occurring in the Zircon Way neighborhood in the Town of Superior,” said Carrie Haverfield with the BCSO.

Three patrol units responded.

So, who let the goats out?

“That is hard to determine, but an active investigation is going on right now,” Haverfield said. “We are trying to find out where those goats came from.”

In a Facebook post, the sheriff’s office said the goats were supposed to be in the open space.

“We are not kid-ding, sometimes you don’t know what you might end up doing while on duty. It was a busy night herding these escapee goats in Superior. They were supposed to be munching on open space thistle, but took a ewe-turn and roamed the streets instead. We asked them why they were there, one responded, ‘I have no idea how I goat here,'” the sheriff’s office said.

For the next two hours Boulder County deputies herded, coaxed and goated the band on the run into in a waiting trailer.

”Just good old herding skills that you have to have as a deputy of the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office,” Haverfield said.

As of this report, no charges have been filed.

“We ended up letting them go on their own recognizance,” Haverfield said.

A stern warning given to the suspects: “ewe” better behave.
