EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) – At least one person is dead at a residence, which prompted a shelter-in-place to be ordered by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday.

Deputies and several other departments responded to a call of someone possibly seriously injured in the 1300 block of Pleier Drive just after 10 a.m. and found “at least” one person dead.

EPCSO tactical unit ordered a shelter-in-place order for people within two miles of Pleier Drive and Walsen Road “based on other evidence and observations” found at the scene.

Police will be at the location for an extended time to investigate the scene.

EPCSO told FOX31’s Evan Kruegel no one is in custody. They declined to elaborate on any additional details.

Jerry Hager said he and his wife were coming home from the mountains when they ran into the roadblock.

“A couple of joggers told us you can’t get down there, something bad has happened,” he said.

Hager said it took about five hours to return to his home, which sits just a few houses down from where the investigation is taking place.

“You know something bad has happened, and in a peaceful neighborhood like this, that in itself is unusual and frightening,” he said.

Police told residents to stay inside, lock doors and stay away from exterior walls.

At 2:15 p.m., police said they resolved the situation and lifted the shelter-in-place order.
