ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) – Three people died after an SUV rollover crash in Adams County Saturday morning.

According to officials with the Colorado State Patrol, reports of the rollover came in around 6:15 a.m. Investigators said that the 2012 Toyota Highlander was traveling at an excessive speed in the eastbound direction on 136th Avenue ahead of the rollover.

CSP said that as the vehicle was approaching where 136th Avenue intersects with Riverdale Drive, the driver, a 25-year-old man from Longmont, allegedly blew through a stop sign before going off of the road and airborne into an irrigation ditch. Impairment is believed to have played a role in this crash.

When officials arrived at the scene, they found the vehicle in the ditch with four people inside.

An 18-year-old woman from Lafayette, a 23-year-old from Longmont and a 28-year-old man, were declared dead at the crash site.

According to CSP, only one of those passengers was wearing a seat belt. The driver is currently in the hospital and is in serious condition.
