DENVER — A man was arrested after police responded to a report of a man with a gun inside a south Denver movie theater Sunday evening, the Denver Police Department said.

The incident happened about 5:15 p.m. at a Regal Cinemas Continental 10 & RPX movie theater near near Interstate 25 and East Hampden Avenue.

After responding, officers spoke with a man and took him into custody without incident.

The theater was evacuated and police spokesman Sonny Jackson later said there was no gun.

Police said the man was arrested for trespassing after he allegedly tried to get into a theater to watch a movie without paying for a ticket.

No one was hurt during the incident. Police said an investigation is ongoing.
