DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says a stretch of Santa Fe Drive is back open after an investigation into the pursuit of a stolen vehicle.

The sheriff’s office said the suspect was hit by a deputy’s car after the suspect ran into its path trying to get away. 

It started around 3:30 Thursday morning when deputies saw a pickup truck they believed was stolen out of Castle Rock.  

Deputies tried to pull the truck over near Santa Fe and Blakeland in unincorporated Douglas County but it continued to drive recklessly, swerving in and out of the wrong lanes of traffic.   

Police say they used stop sticks, deflating the suspect’s tires, which slowed the car down, but the driver kept going. 

It was near Santa Fe Drive, just south of Mineral Avenue in Littleton, when deputies used tactical intervention to stop the pickup. 

When the pickup was stopped, the driver fled from the scene and into the path of one of the responding deputies and was struck by the deputy’s vehicle, according to Douglas County. 

The driver was then taken into custody and sent to the hospital. Details about the driver’s injuries were not released.

The two passengers were taken into custody and will be transported to the Douglas County Detention Facility on numerous charges, as well as existing warrants.

Santa Fe Dr. reopened at 10 a.m. after being closed for more than four hours.

No deputies or anyone else was hurt during the chase.  

All suspects have been accounted for. Their identities will not be released at this time.
