Denver police arrest 8 after clashes with officers, vandalism along East Colfax

DENVER (KDVR) — A group containing dozens of protesters has gathered on East Colfax Avenue Wednesday night. Police in the area used loud speakers to disperse them. Below are live updates from the KDVR team.

Denver police have identified the eight people who were arrested as:

Ariel Wolff, 29, disobeying a lawful order

Mark Noonan, 27, engaging in a riot

River Dougherty 25, criminal mischief

Sarah Marreel-Alley, 22, 2nd degree assault on an officer

Rebecca Carter, 29, disobeying a lawful order

Braedon Weart, 22, disobeying a lawful order

Logan Debyle, 23 disobeying a lawful order, fireworks possession

Megan Smith, 28, possession of a prohibited weapon, disobeying a lawful order, obstruction of a street

According to DPD, four people were arrested for criminal mischief, assault and weapons violations.

Officers recovered a handgun, knife, hammer and bear spray. The names and photos of the suspects have not yet been released.

Police say graffiti and broken windows were reported along East Colfax. Additionally, a fire was set in a dumpster at Colfax and Washington.

New details: The protest started in Cheesman Park and went to the Colorado Capitol. Police said they dispersed the crowd on East Colfax Avenue shortly before 9 p.m.

Protesters were chanting messages against the police, President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden.
