Suspect arrested following hit-and-run with serious injuries in northwest Denver

DENVER — Police have arrested the driver allegedly involved in a hit-and-run crash Friday afternoon in northwest Denver.

A victim who was hit has serious injuries, the Denver Police Department says. The crash happened at 49th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard around 10:41 a.m.

Police were looking for a silver 2004 Ford Explorer and a female driver.

Shortly before 4 p.m., DPD said the driver was in custody. She is being held for careless driving resulting in injury of a vulnerable road user, a red light violation and leaving the scene of a crash.

The suspect’s name has not been released.

A Medina Alert was issued but has since been canceled.

The person who was struck is a Colorado Department of Transportation construction worker.

Southbound Sheridan Boulevard is closed at West 49th Avenue due to the crash. Police are advising to take alternate routes.
