DENVER — A 17-year-old boy died Wednesday evening after being dropped off at an urgent care facility in southwest Denver. The Denver Police Department is investigating the case as a homicide.

At 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, DPD said it responded to 1339 S. Federal Blvd. for a reported stabbing. After investigating, police learned a 17-year-old boy was the victim of a shooting in the 2600 block of West Mexico Avenue around 5:13 p.m.

DPD said the boy was dropped off  at the Federico F. Pena Southwest Family Health Center. According to police, he was then transported to a hospital and declared dead.

Police are working to learn more about the circumstances that led up to the boy’s death.
