ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — A vehicle fire in Adams County Saturday spread to a nearby home and other vehicles before being extinguished.
One pet was safely evacuated from the fire and there were no injuries.
South Adams County Fire Department responded to the fire, which was in the area of 73rd Place and Krameria Street.
“Wires catching on fire, exploding power lines, I mean it was crazy,” Lily Medina, a neighbor, said.
Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the house, where they found a dog inside.
“The dog looked injured, you know,” Medina said, “we could hear him yelping and crying from down the street and hopefully he wasn’t too injured.”
Butch, the dog, was treated and is recovering Saturday night.
“I was like ‘mom, come look at this, there’s a flame’ and then I said ‘I’m probably going to call 911,'” Silas Montoya said.
Montoya, 10, lives on the block and was the first to notice the fire. He lives in the home on the property with his family.
“The black smoke was huge,” Montoya said. “It was going over the house, over our house, everywhere.”
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
