AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — The Aurora Police Department is searching for a driver who they say left the scene of a deadly crash involving a pedestrian and two dogs.
Loved ones of the deceased identified him to FOX31 as Jason Lyman, 41. His dogs, Buster and Dakin, also perished in the crash. A GoFundMe account has been created to help his wife and three children.
“They left his family alone, without a bread-winner and without a dad,” said Travis Owens, Lyman’s best friend.
APD said it happened around 2:30 a.m. Friday near South Reservoir Road and East Mansfield Avenue.
During an investigation, APD learned that a Toyota Sequoia was traveling southbound on South Reservoir Road, south of East Mansfield Avenue, when it left the road and hit a pedestrian and two dogs on the sidewalk.
The driver of the Sequoia, an unknown man, abandoned the vehicle in the median and left the area on foot before police arrived.
“You need to come in and do the right thing,” Owens said.
