DENVER — A pedestrian died after being hit by a train in the Baker neighborhood Thursday, the Denver Police Department said.

The incident happened near Santa Fe Drive and West Bayaud Avenue about 1 p.m.

Police said the death does not appear to be intentional. Police did not know whether there was a problem with the crossing signals.

Eastbound Bayaud was closed at Santa Fe but has since reopened.

Light rail service was closed in both directions. RTD said all C, D, E, F and H line trains were affected and provided a shuttle for commuters between the Broadway and 10th and Osage stations.

About 2:20 p.m., RTD said normal train services were resuming and all lines were expected to be back on regular schedules within two hours.

Police are investigating the incident.

A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a light rail train in the same area in August. Investigators believe that person might have intentionally stepped onto the tracks.
