COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KDVR) — Colorado Springs police officers said they exchanged gunfire Thursday afternoon with someone potentially involved in two bank robberies.
The incident happened around 4 p.m. in the area of Palmer Park and Academy boulevards, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Police said robbery detectives contacted a vehicle at Palmer Park that they believed was connected to two bank robberies.
They said the person in that vehicle “fired at least one shot at officers,” and “at least one officer fired at least one round in return.”
No officers were hurt, but “the suspect was struck at least one time, placed in custody and immediately given medical aid before being transported to a local hospital,” police said.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting.
