DENVER (KDVR) — More than a week after he rushed into a King Soopers in Boulder in response to an active shooter, Boulder Police Officer Eric Talley was laid to rest Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Flatirons Community Church in Lafayette.

The Lafayette Police Department posted the procession route on Twitter. It included Highway 7, 119th Street, and S. Boulder Road. Traffic was affected by road closures for the procession, which concluded at approximately 10:30 a.m. Additionally, S. Boulder Road (between Public Road and Coal Creek Drive) and Waneka Parkway was closed at approximately 8 a.m. and did not reopen until late afternoon.

The Colorado Fallen Hero Foundation has taken the lead on planning the service – working closely with the Boulder Police Department and Talley’s family.

FOX31’s Deborah Takahara spoke with retired Aurora Police Chief, and co-founder of the Colorado Fallen Hero Foundation, Nick Metz about what people can expect for the service.

Talley’s service had several unique features aimed at balancing tradition and symbolism with the sacrifice he made while celebrating the life he lived.
