DENVER (KDVR) — A new Lifetime series that kicked off earlier this week highlighted the 2011 murder of a woman from Denver.

The series, titled “#TextMeWhenYouGetHome” debuted on June 6.

The first episode showcased the murder of Kenia Monge, a 19-year-old from Denver. Monge was murdered after accepting a ride from a stranger while leaving a LoDo club in April 2011.

“The family of Kenia Monge share the agonizing details of what happened around the beautiful, 19-year-old’s disappearance. Father Tony Lee, her sister, Kim, and authorities explain how the texts in Kenia’s cell phone were the impetus to finding her abductor, who ultimately led them to Kenia,” Lifetime shared.

In August of 2011, Travis Forbes was in jail in Fort Collins, accused of sexually assaulting and trying to kill a Fort Collins woman.  Denver police suspected him in the death of Monge.

Detectives said they made a general map of Forbes’ locations the night Monge disappeared and the next day using tracking information from his cell phone. They conducted extensive searches but were unable to find Monge’s body. 

Forbes told detectives he would confess everything if he could go to prison without being labeled a sex offender. 

Monge’s remains were found around 40 miles north of Denver on Sept. 7, 2011, after Forbes confessed to police.
