DENVER — A motorcycle officer was seriously injured while conducting speed enforcement in a construction zone on Tuesday night, the Denver Police Department said.
The crash happened on westbound Interstate 70 at North Havana Street in northeast Denver.
The officer, a 15-year veteran of the department, was taken to Denver Health Medical Center, where he remained as of Wednesday afternoon.
A police spokesman said the officer suffered several fractures. His name was not released.
Late Tuesday night, police chief Paul Pazen was asked how the officer is doing and he responded with a thumbs-up gesture.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
