LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — A 14-year-old boy is back home with his family after spending the night missing in the Ramah Wilderness.

The boy was out there camping with his church group when he became separated from them. Spencer Hallman was missing for almost a full day in the Laramie River valley.

His parents, Tammie and Travis Hallman, were waiting eagerly for his return Thursday night at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Berthoud. The family is in the process of moving to Berthoud from Cody, Wyo.

“He wasn’t angry or anything. He just ‘squirreled off,’ as we call it home,” Tammie Hallman told FOX31.

Rescue crews used thermal imaging and night vision to find the boy, eventually locating him Thursday afternoon. They brought him back to his group on horseback, safe and sound. He was reunited with his church group around 2 p.m. Thursday after he was medically cleared.

He was reunited with his parents at the church just before 9 p.m. The parents said they were grateful their son was found safe.

“I’m not actually going to get mad,” father Travis Hallman said. “I can’t, because he’s here.”
