AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — Update: Police arrested the brother of the man killed.

Jimmy Lee Churchill, 33, faces counts of first-degree murder and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

“Investigators believe that the two brothers were involved in a verbal altercation in the motel room before the shooting occurred,” the Aurora Police Department said in a news release.

Churchill was being held at the Aurora Detention Center without bond.

Police responded to the Radiant Inn at 10905 E. Colfax Ave. around 4:22 a.m. for a reported shooting.

A man in his 40s was found dead inside a room at the motel. His identity will be released from the coroner’s office following notification of next of kin.

No suspect information has been released at this time.
