LOVELAND, Colo. (KDVR) — New information has been revealed in the murder of an 18-year-old during a carjacking in Loveland.
The white Dodge Ram truck suspected in the case has four doors and tinted windows, according to the Loveland Police Department. The model year is estimated to be 2009-2014. Traffic cameras were not able to discern if it had a license plate.
Neighbors who live along East Eisenhower Boulevard (U.S. 34) to First Street and U.S. 287 to Boyd Lake Road are being asked to check their surveillance cameras from this weekend for the suspected truck.
The carjacking happened at the Brookstone apartment complex around 10:15 p.m. Friday in Loveland. Someone shot the 18-year-old and stole his car.
“We are not quite positive as to whether he was fully in the vehicle or outside the vehicle, but at some juncture, two men got into the vehicle and drove around the complex area,“ Loveland Police Chief Tom Doran said.
16-year-old also shot, wounded in carjacking
Investigators say two suspects were being followed by the truck. The stolen car then hit another car in an entirely different area of the complex.
That car was being driven by a 16-year-old who police say had no idea what was going on. That teenager was shot but survived after Loveland police applied tourniquets to stop his bleeding.
The family of the 18-year-old who was killed identified him as Nasier Graham and provided photos of him. FOX31 met with his father and sister, but they were not ready to speak publicly at this time.
FOX31 also spoke to a friend and co-worker, who went to Mountain View High School with the victim.
“He really liked to talk about sports. Sports was his favorite thing. He liked to talk about what we were doing on the weekends. He talked about his girlfriend a lot. He really liked her and his family. He just loved his family and friends,” Graham’s friend, Brennan Brown, said.
Loved ones gather for memorial at crime scene
A gathering was held at the complex where the carjacking took place. A memorial now marks the spot near where Graham lost his life.
“Right now, I don’t want to believe it. I don’t believe it, but I know he’s watching over us. Taking care of us. Long live Nas! Long live Nas!” Brown said.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help Graham’s family.
Loveland investigators say they believe there were three suspects in the white Dodge Ram truck. Two of them were young Hispanic males.
