Thousands gather for 7th day of protests in Denver

DENVER (KDVR) — Protesters seeking police reform and justice following the in-custody death of George Floyd gathered for a seventh day in downtown Denver on Wednesday.

Protests remained essentially peaceful on Tuesday night, in contrast to nighttime riots late last week and over the weekend.

A curfew in Denver will go into effect at 9 p.m. Wednesday at last until 5 a.m., and there will be another curfew Thursday night into Friday morning.

10:50 p.m.

Hundreds of protesters remain downtown. The situation has remained peaceful.

9:33 p.m.

After going through downtown, most protesters are on Lincoln Street in front of the Capitol.

Police are nearby, but the situation has remained peaceful.

9:01 p.m.

With Denver’s curfew in effect, hundreds remain marching through the streets downtown. Others are gathered outside the Capitol.

Mayor Hancock said he was “honored” that he was asked to join Wednesday’s protest.
