COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (KDVR) — Commerce City officials announced that the city was on accident alert after a large power outage.

The city and Xcel Energy were aware that a large portion of the south part of the city was without power for an extended period of time.

According to a tweet from the city, the town was running on accident alert. The city was asking residents to only call the police if they were involved in a major accident with injuries.

According to Xcel, the outage was very large and spanned multiple cities. The company gave an update at 4:10 p.m., crews had restored power to half of those who were without. The company expected to have all power restored within the hour.

According to Xcel, at the height of the outage, 4,100 people were impacted.

As of 9:30 p.m., the outage map showed all power had been restored to Commerce City residents.
