DENVER (KDVR) — South Metro Fire Rescue and the Denver Fire Department battled a large fire in a row of two-story townhomes Friday.
DFD said the fire was under control by 1:45 p.m., but they were going to remain on the scene to watch for hot spots and assist in the investigation into what caused it.
One person suffered burn injuries and was transported to the hospital for observation.
Initial reports stated one dog had died in the blaze, but the dog was found alive in the apartment complex. Jessica Cliver is the sister of the dog’s owner. Cliver said Denver Fire entered the apartment around 6 p.m. Friday night to look one more time for the unaccounted for dog.
Denver Fire found the pup alive and buried under clothes inside the closet, exactly where the owner said the dog would be. The dog was in rough shape, but the vets kept her overnight and are monitoring her recovery.
The fire was reported around noon at 1885 S. Quebec Way, Denver Fire tweeted.
A total of four units were destroyed by the fire.
When SkyFOX was over the fire you could see smoke from the first and second floor but there did not appear to be any flames coming out from the building.
