Lakewood police arrest suspect in deadly motel shooting, victim identified

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (KDVR) — Julian Joel Rivera, 34, was arrested Tuesday night in Castle Rock as part of a multi-agency effort.

Lakewood police say Rivera is suspected of shooting and killing 29-year-old Geronimo Alvarado. He is also suspected in other shootings, police say.

At around 2:43 a.m., Lakewood police were called to the Blue Sky Motel at 6205 W. Colfax Ave. on report of a shooting. When police arrived, they found Alvarado suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Alvarado ultimately died of those injuries.

Rivera is being held at the Jefferson County Jail for investigation of first-degree murder charges.
