GOLDEN, Colo. (KDVR) — After Denver and surrounding counties announced they would let indoor mask mandates expire with plummeting cases and hospitalizations in Colorado, Jefferson County public health leaders decided to eventually follow suit.

While counties are generally letting these mandates expire in February, there is a consensus across the Front Range that local businesses may choose to still require customers to mask up.

The Jefferson County Board of Health discussed whether or not to extend its mandate for more than two hours Thursday.

Ultimately, Jefferson County Public Health voted to end the mandate on Friday, Feb. 18, with the understanding it will hold another meeting on Feb. 15 to re-evaluate the data and see if it could be ended earlier.

This order will rescind all county-controlled mask mandates, including those in schools. Federal and state mandates will still apply.
