DENVER (KDVR) – FOX31 and Channel 2 are working with local organizations and members of the community to assist families displaced by the most destructive wildfire in Colorado͛’s history: the Marshall Fire.
There are many ways to help. To focus efforts, on January 5 under the banner of “Boulder County Wildfire: Crisis Relief͛”, both stations also held an all-day outreach to the community to raise funds to help nearly 1,000 families whose homes were destroyed by the fire.

“This is the day for people to help fellow Coloradans,” said FOX31 and Channel 2 Vice President and General Manager, Byron Grandy. “For all of us, this was a heartbreaking event. With this determined effort we can make a difference and truly help all of those in need.” As part of the day of fundraising, the Nexstar Charitable Foundation, from FOX31 and Channel 2’s parent company, made a $10,000 donation to the American Red Cross.
Donate money
- American Red Cross: Donate money to the American Red Cross by texting “REDCROSS” to 90999, which will benefit disaster relief.
- Salvation Army: The Salvation Army has a link for those who wish to donate money.
- Flatirons Community Church has set up gift card drops. The church is recommending gift cards to places like Walmart, Target, Costco, Sams Club and local restaurants. Click here for a list of locations where you can drop off a gift card.
- The Community Foundation of Boulder County has set up a fund for people who want to donate. The funds will help officials respond to both immediate and long-term needs related to the fire. Donate at the Boulder County Wildfire Fund.
- JEWISHcolorado launched a relief fund for relief efforts for those impacted by the fires. Donations are accepted here.
- The Colorado Police Officers Fund has started a special collection to help law enforcement officers and their families that have been impacted by the fire. Several officers lost their homes while working to help evacuate others. Donations can be made securely through PayPal.

- The Archdiocese of Denver is making a donation of $250,000 in addition to money collected during services. You can also make an online donation here.
- St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisville set up a donation site for victims of the Marshall Fire.
Donate goods or services
A Marshall Fire Donations and Resource Center has been set up by Boulder County. A variety of items are needed. A full list, along with hours and drop-off location, can be found on the Boulder OEM website.
Follow the YMCA of Northern Colorado for updates on what supplies are needed at their shelter for evacuated animals. Needs may include blankets, pillows and dog and cat food.
Food, drink and hygiene products can be donated to the North Denver Food pantry at 6900 W. 1117th Ave. and financial donations can be made at northdenvercares.org.
Offer shelter
Boulder OEM asks anyone who is able to offer shelter to people displaced to sign up to be a vetted host at Airbnb.com. The Airbnb Open Homes Program will alert you if your shelter is needed.
