AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — (Update: 4:30 a.m.) The Aurora Police Department says a homicide suspect was shot by police after he barricaded himself inside a home for more than 11 hours.
The shooting was reported around 3 a.m., more than 11 hours after the barricade situation started.
The suspect was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. No officers were injured.
APD said the 18th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team has been activated and the group will lead the investigation.
The suspect’s identity will be released from the coroner’s office following notification of next of kin.

Update 10:21 p.m. The barricade continued into at least its sixth hour since police notified the public of the situation. Aurora Police said “the male is back in communication with our negotiators.”
8:16 p.m. Aurora Police said the barricade was still ongoing. The suspect is wanted for a homicide in another state, police said, but no further information was released.
Earlier, around 7 p.m., police said negotiators were on the phone with the suspect.
Original: Multiple officers are near Oswego Street for a barricade situation.
According to the Aurora Police Department, multiple officers are in the area of 400 North Oswego Street for a suspect wanted for homicide. The suspect is barricaded inside a home in the area.
Aurora police have sent a reverse 911 call to neighbors in the area. All residents are asked to stay inside and away from windows as police have information the suspect may be armed.
An armored rescue and response vehicle from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene at 6 p.m. Police tweeted they were thankful for the vehicle as it houses a safe place for officers while they work towards a resolution.
Police said SWAT is also on scene and crews are working towards a resolution. The Crisis Negotiations Team will be arriving shortly to help SWAT work towards a peaceful resolution.
