Hancock highlights future changes coming to downtown Denver

DENVER (KDVR) — Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock along with other city leaders addressed the public on future investments and long-term plans for downtown.

Hancock said Denver is no different than other major metropolitan areas in the country, still finding its footing after the pandemic shut down city cores. Hancock recognized that as more people return to the office, including City of Denver employees, more foot traffic downtown will boost business.

“Renewing the downtown experience, to be better than it was before is a priority for all of us,” Hanock said.

Hancock said moving forward, shared public spaces like the dining area on Glenarm Plaza and Larimer Square will become permanent fixtures, just like the city’s expanded outdoor dining program.

Hancock said the city will break ground on improvements to the 16th Street Mall next week, improving mobility and public access spaces.

The press conference was held at Glenarm Plaza Thursday. You can watch the remarks on FOX31 NOW in the player above.
