GREELEY, Colo. (KDVR) – A woman connected to the murder of a 21-year-old woman in late November allegedly went on a crime spree of sorts and now finds herself in custody.

Officials with the Greeley Police Department said that Mary Alicia Garcia, 27, was arrested on Friday in connection with a shooting that occurred early on Nov. 28 and left Herminia Marquez, 21, dead.

Once the investigation was launched, Garcia was identified by GPD as a suspect in the killing of Marquez. An arrest warrant was issued for Garcia, who was reportedly a parole absconder at the time of the killing.

However, before she was taken into custody on Jan. 13, GPD believe she was involved in a string of crimes, which occurred in the following order.

Dec. 26 – Robbery on 4700 block of 29th Street

GPD said that on the day after Christmas, Garcia allegedly robbed a local store located on the 4700 block of 29th Street.

Garcia is believed to have pulled a handgun on an employee before fleeing the scene.

As a result of this, GPD issued an additional arrest warrant for Garcia for aggravated robbery.

Jan. 1 – Alleged home-invasion robbery

A few days later on Jan. 1, officers with GPD responded to a home-invasion robbery. A victim of this robbery identified Garcia as one of the suspects.

An additional warrant for aggravated robbery and first-degree burglary was issued for Garcia.

Jan. 3 – Attempted robbery in Johnstown

Officers with the Johnstown Police Department launched an investigation into a robbery, during which Garcia is believed to have attempted to rip away the victim’s purse.

According to GPD, a gun was fired before Garcia allegedly fled the scene.

As a result of this third additional investigation, another warrant was issued for Garcia for aggravated robbery.

Jan. 13 – Police pursuit and arrest

At roughly 2:37 p.m. on Friday, Garcia was located by GPD while driving a vehicle near 34th Street and Burlington Avenue in the city of Evans.

GPD officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Garcia, who in turn led them on a 6-mile pursuit.

Garcia abandoned her vehicle at the intersection of 11th Avenue and 25th Street before fleeing on foot. She was, however, hastily captured and taken into custody.

Charges are pending at this time and if you have any information that could help investigators, you are asked to contact GPD by dialing 970-350-9532.
