THORNTON, Colo. (KDVR) — Gov. Jared Polis spoke at the annual School Safety Summit in Thornton Thursday.
Polis joined the Colorado School Safety Resource Center within the Colorado Department of Public Safety at the annual summit.
According to the governor’s office, the annual School Safety Summit was an opportunity to bring together important voices to discuss safety tactics and improvements within Colorado schools. Polis spoke at the summit to discuss important safety strategies with other leaders.
“One of our administration’s top priorities is keeping students safe and ensuring Colorado kids can thrive in school. We have made historic investments in education because when we invest in children and their safety, we invest in our shared future,” said Polis. “Students and teachers deserve to have the safest environments and parents deserve to have peace of mind that their child is safe in school which is why I am committed to making Colorado one of ten safest states in the country.”
The governor’s office said that Polis is committed to making Colorado one of the top 10 safest states and ensuring schools are safe for all students.
Polis proclaimed October as School Safety Month this year.
